S. Anselm’s narrowly lost 14.5 to 12
Half Time Score Foremarke Hall 6 and S.Anselm’s 4.5
POM : A unanimous decision – Freya Harcus
On a sunny afternoon, the mixed Senior team were ready for action. Foremarke Hall lost the toss and batted first. The first ball from Amelia H was accurate and hard, the batter from Foremarke Hall put the ball up in the air and Freya H took her first catch of the game – Great start! Amelia H continued to bowl consistently and well with Jemima W proving strong as backstop. Sarah W was also positioned well on 2nd post and stopped many half rounders. At times the deep field players needed to be a little more confident with sending the ball into post players but overall a fine fielding performance, Charlotte P and Grace B started to position themselves well in the deep field. It was S.Anselm’s turn to bat, they started off cautiously but were gaining in confidence as the innings progressed. Emma K found hidden strength and scored the first rounder of the innings. This certainly made an impact on the rest of the team of with Jemima W, Amelia H both going on to score full rounders and Freya H and Sarah W both scoring solid half rounders. Unfortunately in the second innings Foremarke went on to score a further 8.5 rounders, a few rounders were given away through poor fielding. However, eventually Freya H caught 2 magnificent catches and Sarah W made a couple of sound stumpings at second post. This meant that S. Anselm’s had a lot of work to do to close the gap and ensure a win. Freya H, Amelia H, Ellen B, Jemima W all scored half rounders and the gap was certainly clothing. As the innings progressed, Grace B, Lydia F and Mairi T started to make contact with the ball but unfortunately the team ran out of balls and just lost out by 1.5 rounders. However, it was a fine performance from both players and supporters! Well done!
