HALF TIME SCORE 13½ - 8

PoM - Georgina H & Georgia R-S

Yet again we were pushed into batting first but on this occasion it was worth it - we looked fantastic! We batted incredibly well, beginning to place the ball where we wanted, to keep the opposition on their toes. Georgina H and Phoebe A dominating the scoreboard, notching up 2 full rounders each within 27 balls, then Nancy J and Georgina H finished the innings with 2 more full rounders. Not only that, we collectively managed to score 7 ½ half rounders - totaling 13½ rounders - great stuff!

Denstone were in to bat, we were trying a new tactic of alternative backstop but unfortunately, she had her work cut out - Georgia R-S worked overtime running up and down the conveniently placed slope just behind the pitch! Denstone made the most of this, not hitting the ball but getting all the way round and scoring ½ rounders. They did only manage to score 2 full rounders though, as we fielded very precisely. Nancy J, Poppy M and Ally H making some great catches.

Our second batting innings, even better than our first. Georgia R-S opened the scoring with a full rounder, then Fleur G then Poppy M then Georgina H then Phoebe A then Ally H then Georgina H then Phoebe again - 8 full rounders and 4 half rounders - awesome bit of batting!

Denstone did not last long in their final innings, we had all but one player out through fantastic fielding within 16 balls. Millie C backed up Georgia R-S at backstop, which worked effectively, Georgia managed to catch two backward hits and send the ball to Fleur G on first, to get two Denstone girls out. For this, and her two rounders, Georgia was awarded PoM. Five of the opposition still in, but not for long, Poppy M, Phoebe A and Alli H taking some great catches. Georgina H moved around the field brilliantly throughout the match, backing up other players and catching the ball well, even one-handed, she got the penultimate player out with a catch and was the obvious choice for PoM, having also scored 5 full rounders.

I feel this match was a turning point for us, the girls worked brilliantly as a team. Moving around the field, backing up other players and communicating to each other, as well as batting very competently. Well done you lot! Keep it up!

As always, many thanks to our faithful supporters for their encouragement.
