U12A Rounders v Foremarke (A)
Won 16 - 12½
Half Time 5 – 3 ½
The first of our two away fixtures at the stunning setting of Foremarke, playing "lakeside"!
We opted to field first having won the toss. Foremarke scored a full rounder 1st ball - slightly alarming! We composed ourselves and fielded well, having improved but not perfected our catching. Foremarke scored one more full rounder during their innings and we managed to bowl them out in 23 balls. Nancy J bowling well and Poppy M covering 2nd post and captaining her side very competently.
Our batting innings was slightly better than Foremarke's but still not up to standard. Phoebe A scoring our only full rounder, we did score a few ½ rounders but Foremarke had 2nd base covered superbly by their 1st base player.
All in all, both umpires agreed it was not the most awe-inspiring first innings.
However, things hotted up in the2nd half!
Foremarke batted well and 4 of their players remained 'in' to clock up a handsome 9 rounders, giving them a total of 12½ rounders. Georgia R-S was very solid playing off 3rd post, she,Emily G-P and Phoebe A made some super catches.
We had quite a task ahead of us,needing 8 rounders to win. We batted well, yet Foremarke covered 2nd and 4th post brilliantly, preventing us scoring ½ rounders and many of our team managed to reach 3rd post on a number of occasions, just missing out on scoring a full rounder. However, Georgia R-S scored two fabulous rounders and Phoebe A clocked up her 2nd, making her PoM - well done you! We managed 11 rounders, giving us the winning score of 16 - awesome girls!!
We need to work on covering the deep field better. Players must take it upon themselves to move into a spacewhere the ball is being placed - your position is a guide, MOVE if necessary!
