A sunny day on Top Field, bustling atmosphere and lots of enthusiastic supporters.

MSM lost the toss, which meant we could elect to field first. There were some talented batters in the MSM team, challenging our deep fielders, unfortunately we did not field well, dropping some straightforward catches, an aspect of our game we need to improve. Despite our inconsistent fielding no full rounders were scored and at the end of their first innings MSM had scored half rounders rounders on six occasions a total of three rounders. We managed to get 5 of their team out, the Ally H and Fleur G combination working well at BS - 1st post.

It was then our turn to bat - a frustrating innings. We connected well with the ball but sent too many easy catches to the excellent MSM 2nd Deep, they got 6 of us out in close succession. Thankfully Georgina H and Poppy M managed to score a full rounder each and restored our confidence our score at the end of the first innings was three and a half rounders.

It was 'game on' for the second innings and MSM were certainly up for the challenge. They scored 3 full and 3 half rounders, bringing their final score to 7½.

Our 2nd innings started with Nancy J risking all to score a ½ rounder - close shave but worth it! We batted consistently, aiming the ball away from the 2nd Deep danger area. Georgia R-S, Emily G-P, Millie C and Georgina H each scored a full rounder, which put us at equal scores with 11 good balls still to be bowled. MSM were aware of this and some of their team commented accordingly, their heads went down. This boosted our confidence and we continued to bat very well as a consequence. Two more rounders were scored by Ally H and Georgina H managed her third, a hat-trick!

Player of the Match was Georgina H for her consistent batting and fielding - well done!

Everyone should be congratulated for a good first match of the season, keep it up and get practising those catches before a difficult match v Foremarke on Wednesday.
