Under 12A Netball versus Denstone College - Away, Wednesday 25th February 2009 WON 16-1
The girls gave a fine demonstration of good netball today. The balls were passed decisively and players made excellent timing judgements to intercept loose balls. Georgia and Nancy were exceptionally quick about the court and fed some super balls into the shooters. In the 1st quarter we dominated the play with Poppy having a great game. She popped the ball through the net from all sides of the D and distances from the post. Any balls that did make it to the Denstone end were quickly intercepted by a cool Charlotte and dispatched back up the court. We went into the 2nd quarter 6-0 up and continued with the same high standard of play. Lydia positioned herself well for back and side line passes from the defence and made some good interceptions. Emily and Georgia worked very well together and kept the ball safely in our possession. At half time we were 11-0 up and feeling fairly confident. Georgina and Poppy were struggling with GD and GK marking too closely but still continued to shoot accurately. Play became a little sloppy with overcrowding and rushed passes and there was lots of contact. Denstone supporters arrived and they picked their game up and managed to get a few shots on goal. Nancy was like a little sprite whizzing around, receiving and passing without stopping to breathe. Only 3 goals were scored and we went into the final quarter 14-1 up.Moments of great play were interspersed with sloppy passing and poor footwork. Phoebe was still fresh and played well sending the ball up the court with her strong over-arm pass. Georgina's' movement around the D was good and she and Poppy really dominated their defence. The ball was much more end to end but the SA girls were the best team on the court and won convincingly.
