Player of the Match Nancy Smith
We arrived at Ranby with sunshine and blue skies and it was great to see our parents as we were heading up the driveway at Ranby. S. Anselm’s warmed up well and were ready for a very competitive match. S Anselm’s were into to bat first and scored 7 ½ rounders in the first innings. We were slow off the mark but our players certainly picked up fantastic full rounders as the innings progressed: Nancy S, Olivia C, Chloe R-S along with Lucy R, Emma S, Fran F, Eleanor T, Lily S and Emma H scoring crucial halves. After 36 good balls bowled it was Ranby in to bat. Unfortunately S. Anselms were certainly not up to the mark and due to very sloppy fielding in the deeps and on posts Ranby scored 6 ½ rounders in their first innings. It was time for a team talk and changes into the fielding positions. The U12A side had to pull together and take on board the advice given to win this game well. This is exactly what they did! They scored a further 5 rounders in the second half which resulted in S. Anselm’s scoring a total of 12 ½ rounders. Nancy S batted brilliantly and again crucial players kept their nerve and scored important half rounders. Ranby then went into bat and needed 6 ½ rounders to win the game. They started off 1 ball bowled 1 rounder scored, however this did not phase the S. Anselm’s side and they fielded with commitment. They thought about key batters on the opposing side with key fielding formations. Well done. S. Anselm’s fielded so well, a highlight of the match had to be the quality work from Backstop Emma H to 1st post Lily S. Ranby only scored 3 rounders in the second innings which secured a creditable win for the S. Anselm’s side. WELL DONE SUPERSTARS!! Mrs Northcott Very very pleased! A huge learning curve – the U12A side had to have crucial team talk at half time, all players were on board listening with key aims for the second half. You deserved this win particularly with your performance in the second half - Brilliant team work!
