Being at home on the Tunbridge pitch undoubtedly gave us the advantage for this match, we had a good hour to warm up. The opposition, arrived late and rather unsettled after a journey in a faulty, "clutchless" minibus.
Once underway we dominated the game, Nancy S scored a fabulous goal within the first 5 minutes and Lily S followed suit shortly afterwards, converting a superb right side cross from Chloe R-S. The ball occasionally broke through for Terra Nova to reach their goal but excellent defence from Fran F, Olivia C and Lucy R meant they were denied any chance of scoring.
Emma H added to the scoreboard in the 12th minute with a thunderous goal that shot by the TN goalkeeper and just before half time Nancy S clocked up her second goal, 4-0 at half time - fantastic cushion, well done the girls!
Terra Nova came out fighting in the second half, which meant we had to remain focused and defend consistently. We did well, particularly captain Gabby T working incredibly hard at Centre Half, backed up by her midfield players, Georgia D/Hattie R and Eleanor T/Hannah S. TN did have a shot on goal but it was fabulously saved by Emma S, giving it her all and even sustaining a nasty bump on the knee. Chloe R-S looked to be enjoying herself at Sweeper, defending well and even setting up some great goals. Lily S managed to bag another goal for her team in the 10th minute, five minutes later Emma H scored her second and Nancy S again - making it a hat trick - for this great effort she was awarded PoM.
A point to note is that we had at least four short corners in the match and did not manage to convert any of them, this is definitely something we need to work harder at. However, on the whole, a great team performance, highlighting the benefit of a good warm up. Very well done all of you.
