U12A v Trent College Lost 6-1

This was our first 7 aside match, away and on Astro - the odds were against us.

Trent took the first push back and scored almost immediately, which surprised us somewhat. We took advantage of a break from a fabulous hit-out taken by Lucy R, which found Emma H waiting at the edge of the D, who smacked the ball into the goal. 1-1. Game on!

Trent upped the pressure and demonstrated some very fancy stickwork and skill, being used to the Astro surface. They gained most of the possession for the remainder of the half, which put Ellie W, Olivia C and Lucy R under an enormous amount of pressure and yet they each made some wonderful saves. Despite this hard work and good defending, Trent managed to clock up another 3 goals before half time.

As soon as the whistle for the second half blew, Chloe R-S battled tremendously for her team. She played incredibly well in defence and managed to make it up the pitch to have a few shots on goal, unfortunately all saved. For this competitive commitment she was awarded Player of the Match - well done!

Nancy S was working well next to Chloe, playing more of a midfield position in the second half. They were desperately trying to pass the ball to our forwards but Trent read the passes well and intercepted most balls. We unfortunately missed a fabulous opportunity, when Emma H's shot was saved by their 'keeper and the ball was deflected across the goal, Lily S narrowly missing getting her stick onto it - something we could work on.

We played well in the second half and managed to keep the score down to only two more goals for the opposition. Overall, a disappointing result but Trent did have the edge on us throughout, simply because of their experience on Astro. When will we see an Astro at SA, I wonder? Better get playing the lottery!
