It would be fair to say that this was not our under 12as strongest performance. Yes, they had just played two matches on grass prior to it and did face a strong Trent team, who had home and own astro advantage. However, the girls did not rise to the challenge and take the game to Trent, as I thought they might after scoring a much needed, confidence boosting goal just prior to half time. Incidentally, it was a great goal, with Georgia R feeding another strong ball into the D and Elfie CE collecting it on her stick and beating the intimidating Trent goalie, by sending her shot at goal around her and into the far corner with a resounding thud!
Too many times we panicked, particularly in the second half, when gaining possession of the ball, sending it straight back in front of us, instead of looking for our own team to pass to. Look up before you pass girls; try moving the ball forward on the opposition's non stick side; pass the ball backwards to a player, if there are no options in front; make the tackles defence, before the opposition have a chance to get their shot in; face the ball and keep your sticks down, whenever the opposition have a free pass, or chance to self-take the ball; and please get on the end of and finish off those terrific through balls that Georgia countlessly sends into the D!
Let us draw a firm line under this match - onwards and upwards girls, you are a fabulous team and have real potential, if you remember the above! Thanks to all who came to support us for this match.
