For our first home match we took on Trent College in cold, wet weather and managed a 19 to 12 victory. It wasn’t the easiest of games, but the team pulled together and I was impressed to see such sportsmanship from our girls. In the first half S.Anselm’s dominated. The defenders (Francesca F and Nancy S) took interceptions. The centre court worked hard at taking the ball up the court to the goal (Chloe RS, Lily S, Emma H and Eleanor T). The attack (Lucy R and Olivia C) were spot on at shooting for goal. We scored 10 goals to Trent’s 2.
The second half saw Trent come back at us strongly and their shooters started to get shots on target and they totted up 10 more goals. However, S. Anselm’s continued to play well and the attack scored a further 9 goals, giving us a 19 to 12 win overall. The shooters consistently scored 4 or 5 goals per quarter and so I have awarded a joint ‘Player of the Match’ to Olivia C and Lucy R.
Well done girls and thanks for all the support in the wintry weather.
