S.Anselm's won the toss and elected to bat in a Twenty/20 match. The innings was given a steady start by Paddy C and Theo H, who put on 31 for the first wicket in 7 overs before Paddy departed for 14, Theo followed shortly afterwards for 13. Matthew N rotated the bowling nicely but was out for 3. Ed S was playing a nice innings hitting the bad balls for 4 . He was ably supported by Andrew C 10 (two 4's), Charlie S 5 (one 4) and Isaac S 10 not out (two 4's). Ed finished on 37 not out (six 4's) and a total of 119 was posted.
Westbourne reply began at quite a rate with some poor deliveries being bowled and these were dispatched to the boundary. Alex W made a breakthrough dismissing one of the openers. The other opener was a class bat and was hitting some wonderful shots to some ordinary bowling. Elliot T was the exception delivering his 4 overs at the cost of only 7 runs and taking 3 wickets (all bowled), he was fantastic after the coach got him to bowl over the wicket! Wickets continued to fall at one end with Bertie W taking a wicket. The Westbourne opener continued his single handed quest to score the required runs and got the target down to only 16 off 4 overs with 3 wickets in hand. Ed S then bowled a good ball which he got a thin edge to and was well caught by wicket keeper Matthew N. The final two wickets fell to a run out and Paddy C. A good win by 14 runs was recoreded.
The boys battled well when the pressure was on,heads could easily have dropped. Well done.
