U12A v Westbourne U13B Won 14 - 6 1/2

U12A v Westbourne U13B Won 14 - 6 1/2

Players of the Match   Emma Stonebridge for overall good performances in batting and fielding and Harriet Rick for super batting

What a fine team effort from the U12A side today.  In the first innings S. Anselm’s batted first and after a sluggish start, our players certainly found their form and started to hit the ball with ease and strength.  Olivia C scored 2 fine rounders, this was supported by Hattie R and Fran F also scoring full rounders for S. Anselm’s.  At the same time, Emma S, Lucy R, Chloe R-S, Emma H consistently hit the ball well scoring essential half rounders.  At the end of the first innings, S. Anselm’s scored a total of 7 ½ rounders.  Westbourne went into bat and S. Anselm’s certainly fielded well from Backstop to 1st post, Lily S and Emma H once again found their form.  The team bowled Westbourne out in 17 good balls and Westbourne scored 2 ½ rounders.  A super first innings for S. Anselm’s.  In the second innings S. Anselm’s were ready to bat and raring to go to score more rounders.  Olivia C again scored 2 more rounders and Nancy S also shared the glory scoring 2 rounders.  Westbourne certainly tightened up their bowling and fielding in 2nd deep and on 2nd post but S. Anselm’s kept calm and went on to score 6 ½ rounders with the help from the rest of the team scoring crucial ½ rounders.  When Westbourne went in to bat.  It was great to see the S. Anselm’s team fielding strongly, all players were supporting each other and backing up in the field and on posts.  Lots of communication and praise from all players certainly helped the team pressurise Westbourne.  Westbourne did not manage to score any full rounders in the second innings and this was certainly due to top class fielding skills from the S. Anselm’s side. Chloe R-S and Emma H took good solid catches and Lily and Chloe also made some excellent stumpings on their posts.  Well done to all!  The last ball of the innings and Emma H finished the match with a super catch.  It was certainly an impressive performance from the U12 side.  It is great to see the good clear communication throughout the match and great captaincy from Fran F and Vice Georgia D today.  Today’s match certainly highlighted one of the essential aims of what Sport at S. Anselm’s is all about – TEAM WORK  and praise for each other!
