U12A Squad:
Clare T, Emily H, Elfie CE, Poppy S, Amelia W, Grace F, Georgia R, Imo C
Player of the match - Poppy S, for her determination, speed, stamina and super ability to slickly switch from attack to defence mode.
It would be fair to say that The Dreamteamers did not get off to the snappiest of starts in this game, as the score after the first quarter highlights. They had been waiting around for a court and did not have much time between the previous game finishing and their game starting to get up to full speed. GD Georgia had also just played for the U13a team and suffered a nasty trip during this game, so the girls were concerned about their team mate and ensured they helped patch her up for the game. After a little chat from the coach at quarter time normal service was resumed with them playing some super netball, particularly in the second quarter. The conditions were blustery and opposition quite physical, but the girls coped with these two factors well.
Elfie and Poppy out dodged their opponents impressively and Emily H and Clare T shot some super goals, with both moving confidently around the D and taking super rebounds. Amelia W had a good first half, assisting greatly with the flow of the ball down the court and a sore Georgia tried hard. At times we let too much space develop between ourselves and our opponent and the taller Hill House girls used this effectively to their advantage, particularly in their attacking D. Next game we need to come forward for the ball, we have the skill and pace to out dodge our opponents and when we use this skill effectively have proven to be unstoppable (think semi final game against our own under 13a team at the Foremarke Tournament).
Next week we are at home, against Trent College. Last year we played their under 12As a year young as under 11s and narrowly lost to them after a real even tussle of a game. After our disappointing performance against them last term in hockey, it is time to settle old scores girls and Mrs B is looking forward to a skilful, slick team performance from you all - play to impress!
Thank you to all our supporters for coming to watch this game, well done on a) coming to the right venue (it had changed twice) and b) finding it (a new one to most)! See you next week for some SA hospitality!
