U12B v Foremarke Hall, Lost 1 - 5

U12B v Foremarke Hall, Lost 1 - 5

Players of the match - Karina RC and Gabriella N

Half- time - 0 - 2

The U12Bs faced a humungous team of Foremarke players, the majority of who were in year 8. The teams were fairly equally matched skills wise and our girls adapted quickly to playing on astro. Foremarke proved to be better at finishing off through balls into the D, however, with a few of their players being good at providing a strong, powerful finish.

In the first half, Gabby N battled hard in defence, making good tackles and working hard to clear the ball. Goalie Tikara H made some good saves and Marina, still fairly new to the game, also worked hard in defence. Centre Forward Lydia G had opportunities to score, she was often postioned in the right place at the right time and tried hard to utilise them. Amelia M showed real confidence and skill, when self taking a free ball and pushed forward to pressurise the defence, often breaking through into the D.

We scored our goal within the first five minutes of the second half, from an excellent short corner. Lydia G pushed the ball to Victoria A, who sent it into the D for Karina RC to finish off, a great sequence, well done girls! The game remained fairly even for the majority of this half, but a 3rd goal by Foremarke five minutes before the end, boosted their team's confidence and caused our girls' heads to go down. Two more goals followed in quick succession, with their huge centre forward wacking the ball at goal. Our girls were intimidated by her hard hits and held back from tackling her -  a great shame as the end score did not really reflect the end to end play of this game. Both teams had their chances to score, but the stronger, more experienced on astro and year older Foremarke team utilised them better.

We need to keep working on going through players on their non stick side; closing down and tackling the opposition before they have a chance to get their shot in at goal; and also ensure we finish off our through balls into the D, with a hard push, slap or hit at goal and don't try to dribble it into the goal. A good effort girls and thanks to all who came to support us for this game. We are back in action on Saturday, at Denstone College.
