U12B v Grosvenor, Won 4 - 1

U12B v Grosvenor, Won 4 - 1

Player of the match - Lydia G, for superb attacking and good pressuring of the defence and goalie.

Goal Scorers - Lydia G x2 goals, Jess P x1 goal, Issy F x1 goal.

A good result for our huge squad of under 12b girls, a total of 15 of them played in this 9 aside fixture and all contributed impressively to this super result. Grosvenor got off to a strong start, despite their long, twisty journey, with a couple of key players breaking through our mids and sweeper, before being stopped in the D. It was Jess P who fittingly scored the first goal, (this being her old school), finishing off a good through ball into the D from Elsie R. Grosvenor equalised soon after, with one of their key players skilfully going past several of our girls, who hung back and did not tackle her. Her shot at goal appeared to be going too wide, but hit the far goal post and rebounded backwards across the line, taking goalie Tikara by surprise. The teams were fairly level pegged for the remainder of this half, but Lydia G was able to put us one ahead just prior to half time. Amelia M, who did plenty of sterling work in this game, backing up the forwards and making tackles to win possession of the ball; sent a superb through ball down the wing. it was picked up by Emilie B, who crossed it perfectly into the D, for Lydia to slot into the goal.

In the second half the girls heeded my advice to use the wings more, their goal just prior to half time proving my point perfectly. There had been a tendency in the first half to send the ball down the middle channel, which resulted in us losing possession of it quite quickly. By spacing the play out, we were able to move the ball forwards and keep possession of the ball. Our continual pressure on the Grosvenor defence, particularly by Emilie B, Issy F and Lydia G, paid off, with us scoring two more goals in this half. Grosvenor also had their opporunities, but some good kicking from Tikara and super tackles and clearances from Gabby N ensured we did not concede any further goals.

Thanks to all who came to support and well played to all 15 girls, a really super team effort by you all.
