Players of the match - Jess P & Lydia G
Goal scorers-Lydia G x1, Emilie B x1.
A great day for the under 12Bs who dominated in this game, despite playing a team a year older then themselves. Jess P was awesome on the right wing and full credit to her for her gritty determination and good running to collect and keep possession of lose balls for the entire game. Her crosses into the D were super and her hits at goal on target, often made from the outer edges. Lydia G also played very well, hassling in the D like a terrier, determined to score. Her hard work paid off, with her scoring our first goal of the game. She now needs to remember to shoot into the corners of the goal, as her shots tended to go straight to the GK in the second half. Emilie B continues to amaze, demonstrating sound and stylish stick skills in this game, taking the ball on the opposition's non-stick side and using her knowledge to keep possession of the ball. Particularly impressive, as before September she had never picked up a hockey stick - keep up the good work! Issy F came alive in the second half, she heeded the advice to keep on her wing and skilfully went past several players on a number of occasions. She now needs to ensure she uses a little more power with her hits at goal. Defence Lulu and Gabby heeded the advice to keep lower when making tackles and always send the ball out to the wings. They gained in confidence in this game and began to self-take it part of the way up the wing themselves, before distributing it effectively. Goalie Tikara H also played her part, in a position she has only returned to more recently after a brief go at it last hockey season. Her kicks were controlled and powerful.
All in all a solid team performance by all and great result for the girls - who attacked relentlessly particularly in the second half. Thanks to Mrs Green for her support in this game. Well played everybody, enjoy your half term!
