S. Anselm’s went through to the Semi finals V Hasland School.
Unfortunately, lost in the semi finals 11 – 5.
Overall, this was a fantastic fixture for the U13 team. Having not played together in over 2 weeks, they certainly put on a fine performance. We were very unlucky in the first game having the opposition take 3 centre passes on the run and then narrowly winning 5 – 4. The U13 team were disappointed but determined to win the rest of their games, of which they did. Exceptional shooting and positioning from Olivia C ensured that the team was in winning form. The centre court worked hard and defence got into the spirit after a game or two. It was noticeable that the opposition was very tall, this did not phase S. Anselm’s and in their determined attitude, they played well and confidently beating good and strong opposition. S. Anselm’s had excellent games against Ecclesbourne, Chapel and St Mary’s. However, in the semi final, the team found the sheer height of the Hasland team too much. Even Mrs Northcott looked small against their players. However, overall it was a brilliant performance for S. Anselm’s. The girls played well as a squad and I was very proud to be their coach. Another super ending to day was Mrs Northcott not only congratulating the team on their performance but also announcing that Olivia C had been awarded a Sports Scholarship. What a super ending to the day! The sun continues to shine at S. Anselm’s and we are looking forward to seeing the U12 team in action in a week’s time in the Derbyshire County Netball Tournament. MPN
