After a busy day at the Regional IAPS the day before, our under 13 girls had quite stiff legs, but what better way to stretch them than with another match, on astro!! They proved they are quite at home on astro these days, dominating from the offset with Georgina H scoring the first goal within five minutes – she had a fantastic game and went on to score a further four more! The majority of the play through both halves was in our attacking end, with Georgy’s second coming from a spectacular short corner, a great starting move from Emily GP, with Georgy then slamming it into the goal from right at the edge of the D. The third goal was scored by Freya, in a move that was initially set up by Chloe RS, playing up for the under 13s, as sweeper, a new role which she quickly adapted to. She timed her tackles well and her distribution of the ball was superb. On this occasion she fed the ball up the pitch, to Freya inside the D, who collected it and shot powerfully at the goal, feet and hips in exactly the right place. Two more goals by Georgy H were scored before half time, with all of the mids and forwards communicating well. Georgia RS did some sterling work as left mid and worked hard to keep possession of the ball. Nancy J and Millie interacted very well on the right side and proved to be troublesome for the A.B. defence. In the second half Mr Brock’s team focus was to keep possession of the ball by passing it around the team more, and the defence rose to this challenge, supporting the mids and forwards in back pass situations. Poppy M’s confidence grew and she did some super passes forwards, but also kept hold of the ball for longer periods, until the right opportunity arose; whilst Emily GP and Charlotte P timed their tackles very well. Another two goals followed in this half and it was job done for the girls, who were looking forward to giving their tired legs a rest for what was left of the weekend!!
