Today it was really fantastic to see all the senior girls warming up well and looking so impressive on bottom court, all in anticipation for their opposition to arrive. In the first quarter Georgina H was outstanding as Goal defence and pressurised the shooters and centre passes from Trent. This allowed early possession for S. Anselm’s and goals were scored at least one every minute! Alice S and Annie G- P had a great first quarter. Captain Arabella H at Centre continued to drive hard onto the ball at centre passes and from defensive backlines, she reads the game so well and the team was certainly so confident in her on court when she had possession of the ball. (So was Mrs Northcott!). Alice S and Annie G- P both shot well and accurately, the movement around the shooting circle was excellent. When Annie and Alice had the ball in the shooting circle, Mrs Northcott and the team were certain that the shots at goal were going through to extend the score!

Defensively, Erin S, Ella R and Arabella A worked tirelessly throughout the whole match. They made key tips, interceptions and broke down Trent’s attacking play many times. Georgina in particular was so solid and strong – well done. She played the Goal Attack and even the Trent shooter out of the game at times! It was exciting to see! Once S. Anselm’s gained possession, the ball out into the centre court was phenomenal, it was strong, the movement down the court was well timed. In at centre, Arabella H continued to flow the ball from defence into attack with flair and consistency. It was lovely to see Annie G- P, Ella N, Arabella and Alice, working brilliantly using their positioning carefully in order to keep possession of the ball. After an excellent start, the scoreline increased considerably and at times the play got scrappy particularly in the first few minutes of the final quarter. However, to sum up the overall performance from the whole team was impressive, especially in the first half. Many congratulations to all, Trent were a tough side and S. Anselm’s worked hard and were rewarded at the end of the day. Thank you to Trent for an excellent fixture, it is always good to play against such a lovely set of girls from Trent but also a super teaching staff! Thank you also to our parents for your continuous support, it was lovely to see you all.
