LIGHTS V Wellow: Wellow won2:1
DARKS V Wellow: Wellow won 1:0
LIGHTS v DARKS: Darks won 4:2
This was a fun and useful small tournament. Wellow could only supply nine players so we played seven a-side and fielded two teams of seven. These were of mixed ability so the Mr Tadman and Mr Mace could use this session to select a 1st and 2nd team from an informed position.
Despite having many shots at goal both our teams were unfortunate not to win their games. Wellow managed to get their goals from scrabbled corners that fell in front of the goal. Hence this was rather frustrating as some individuals showed real skill (Elliot T, Edward S and Alex W particularly) and we looked the part. However, it was great to see some strong performances from Lewis H, Cameron D and others and Mr Tadman and Mr Mace are now in a much stronger position to select the 1st and 2nd squads.
We must work on our movement off the ball, passing the ball into space for players to run onto and the tenacity and co-ordination of our defence. Silly errors losing sight of attackers and allowing them to roam free in front of the goal cost us dear. More movement and dynamism is essential. There is much to do in training!
