Player of the Match Nancy S
In the first quarter we set off well winning the ball off the opposition and getting the ball in the net. Once the ball was passed down the court by Nancy, Lily and Chloe, Olivia and Lucy popped the ball in the net with no pressure at all. Emma and Fran did some excellent leans over the shooters to then tip the ball and make a quick pass up the court. At the end of the first quarter the score was 9 – 1.
In the second quarter we dropped our standard of play. We passed loopy balls over the other players and did not pass in to the spaces. However we did pick up our play. After approximately 5 minutes into the quarter on the S.Anselm’s centre pass, the goal keeper and centre for the Westbourne team crashed so we did not play the rest of the quarter. At half time the score was 12 – 3. We had a talk about what we were doing wrong and what we needed to improve on.
In the 3rd quarter we went on court with positive attitude and raised our game. Nancy S defended well and picked up loose balls on the court. Lily S did some excellent high balls in to Olivia and Lucy to then score a goal. Olivia’s shooting was very consistent and she kept shooting near to the edge of the D, to then get it in. Brilliant! Lucy positioned herself well and did some lovely shots in to the net too. Emma and Fran were defending well and Emma took some excellent back line passes in order for S. Anselm’s to keep possession of the ball.
After the 3rd quarter the score was 19-3 and Mrs Northcott decided to mix up the team. Everyone went on the court excited and it felt a bit strange playing in a different position. We all had to really concentrate on our new positions and think about the requirements of each playing position. Nancy played well as centre along with Lily and Chloe playing in at GA and GS. Chloe shot 4 balls up into the net and then swapped with Emma to then score another goal. Olivia and Lucy played defence and Fran played WD. Everyone played well in the different positions but we felt a bit out of place. Overall it was an enjoyable match and it was lovely to play as an U13 side. Well done to the whole team!
