Playing 15 minute innings or all out was a new one on the girls as we normally play counted balls but they were quick to get their heads around the concept and adapted their play accordingly. We were put into bat first and Issy demonstrated her newly mastered skill of directing the ball with pin point accuracy. Some fabulous well timed hits saw the girls notch up 6 whole rounders and 4.5 half rounders which is quite a fair score against such a good opposition. Witham were sharp fielders and made no errors so we suffered from a run of batters being caught out and ended up with Lucy being last man in before the 15 mins were up. Lucy held her nerve and scored a couple from well placed hits before we went into field.

The girls lost all focus and concentration and allowed Witham to score from poor hits. Dropped catches, inaccurate throws, lack of thought and a disappointing attitude meant that a stiff half time talking to was required.

Batting in the second innings was good but the rounders were not being scored. Witham went into bat needing only 3 to win. At last the girls pulled it together and the fielding was tight and the Witham girls started dropping like flies. Cecily took some great catches from the deep and got a number out on 2nd post. Hannah was bowling accurately and fast causing a number of backwards hits – keeping Immy on her toes. The girls looked as though they had managed pull the match around but a flurry of good hits saw Witham take the game.
