Try Scorers: Rufus L(3), James B (2), Freddie R-S (2), Ollie N, Seth A
Conversions: Ollie N (4)
S.Anselm’s made a poor start and for the opening ten minutes the match could have gone either away. A first try by Rufus L had been quickly returned in kind. Fortunately S.Anselm’s finally began to respond to the conditions and adopted a style of slightly less ambitious rugby. Using short passes and easy rucking to win territory. This strategy quickly bore fruit and the possession turned in S.Anselm’s favour.
In the second half Anselm’s were clearly too strong and some celebrity positioning and substitution was occasioned. Rufus L played an excellent game coming away with three tries and have to take to the bench for the last ten minutes as he was inevitably just too strong for the opposition. Matthew B made some tremendous runs in the latter part of the game and was nearly rewarded with his first try. Jacques T and Max H were both enjoying the physical, agricultural nature the game had adopted and made some tremendous tackles and were brutal at rucks. Man of the match had to be Alfred H who was in his element and was stopped just short of the try line in a string of occurrences. Such was his commitment he refused to stay off the field even when injured.
Well done gents.
