Very blustery conditions and the excitement of the first match of the season did nothing to detract from the girls’ focus and determination to put in a match winning performance from the start. Jess P put in an impressive performance with her cross court play and she worked very well feeding her GS with strong, well directed passes. Ella R and Karina RC formed a very natural and well-matched partnership in defense – and although less challenged at times by the opposition, stayed alert and focused to do their job very competently when the game required it. Lulu J kept up her impressive work rate around the court, creating spaces and reading the game very well.

PoM goes to Izzy F for some top shooting – her conversion rate was almost faultless, impressive in itself, but with the gusty conditions enjoyed, even more so. Well done to everyone for a super team effort and a great start to the season. Thank you too to the spectators for their support and encouragement from the back line.
