Final score: SA 9 - MSM 11
Half time score: SA 4.5 - MSM 4.5
PoM: Charlotte P
What a wonderful way to start the rounders season - the sun was shining and the sky a cloudless blue. The girls were very excited to get the match underway with lots of enthusiastic banter and swapping of tactics. This set the tone for a match played in excellent spirits with players and spectators alike enjoying the evenly matched teams and the closely fought rounders match. After the first innings of 27 good balls there was nothing between the teams at half time - only for MSM to nudge ahead in the second innings, again of 27 good balls.
Jemima W and Ellie W both had strong games in their fielding roles with some structured sensible game play decisions, and Phoebe A and Freya H did particularly well to add whole rounders to the score. The catch of the game has to go to Charlotte P (sadly for it to be called a "no-ball" - but none the less impressive handling away from her post) and also to her a very sporting gesture to allow Mairi T to come off the bench for a turn.
As the season progresses the decision making by the team as a whole will no doubt strengthen, and with a channelling and focusing of the energy and enthusiasm demonstrated by the girls there will no doubt be some good matches to look forward to.
Well done to everyone.
