U13A Rounders v Foremarke Hall

At last the girls gave a performance they could be proud of. We opted to field first and kept the pressure on the Foremarke batsmen with exceptionally tight fielding. Emily took some great catches in the deep and Eleanor and Charlotte were very quick to pick up low balls and throw them into 2nd post to stop the half rounders. Hannah upped the standard of her bowling and Immy controlled the fielders positioning well. With a little more work on judging high incoming balls the team will be able to secure a higher catch rate but the overall approach to fielding was much better.
We went onto bat with a great deal more determination than before and Hannah set the standard with a fabulous ball that disappeared into the distance. Everyone made contact with the ball as the backstop – 1st post combination of Foremarke was very effective. We went into the 2nd innings 5 -6 down but maintained a high standard of fielding and Foremarke were all out for a total of 12 rounders. Going into bat needing at least 7 to draw gave the girls a bit of fire in their bellies and they all gave 100%. Hannah was sending the ball as far as possible, Issy was changing direction deceptively and Charlotte ran for her life between posts and notched up the half rounders. A great performance from the girls as they fought for everything and notched up a great total of 13.5 rounders. A great game played to the highest of standards – just a pity it has taken so long to play at that level!
