Wednesday 24th June
The last games lesson and match for the U13 girls was played on a beautiful day against a very similar team.
We opted to play 10 aside in order to give all players a game which put pressure on the batters to find the gap in the fielders. Winning the toss we opted to field and with Hannah bowling , Immy was kept busy retrieving balls from the shrubbery. Rounders were given away by silly fielding errors as well as the ones deserved by a decent hit. However Wellow scored only 4 ½ in the first innings.
Despite the girls all playing superbly in the parents and house matches they struggled to make contact with the ball and were forced into rushing for 2nd post to sneak the ½ rounders by putting pressure on the fielders. Lucy was back on form and helped us to get 6 ½ rounders.
Focus wavered in the 2nd innings and more silly fielding errors resulted in Wellow walking away with 6 rounders. Eliza bowled very well and Charlotte was sent scurrying into the distance a number of times and used her big throw to get the ball back in the game.
Going into bat we needed 5 rounders to win. Izzy, Hannah, Lucy and Annie obliged took the risks to give us a final score of 12 ½ .
A well deserved victory for the girls.
