U13A v Hill House Lost 6 ½ - 11

Wednesday 20th May 2009

Player of the Match Eliza Wood

It was great to finally be playing some rounders after all the rain but with injury and tennis commitments we were fielding a slightly weaker team than usual. Hill House won the toss and opted to field. The speed of the ball coming from the bowler forced the girls to really concentrate and there were more contacts than usual but the ball was never really hit a great distance. However Lucy and Georgina batted aggressively and notched up the half rounders and we managed a total of 5 in the first innings.

Hill House were batting well but Georgina and Charlotte were slick at picking up balls and getting them to Cecily at 2nd post. Lucy took some great catches Immy was good at covering 4th post and we limited Hill House to 3 ½ rounders. The 2nd innings was very closely contested with Hill house lifting their game and getting the girls all out for 1 ½ rounders in 18 balls.

Hill House went into bat with nothing to loose and they began scoring with some fantastic hits into the spaces left by the fielders. Eliza bowled superbly with great variation in speed and length and Immy was very quick to pass missed balls to Cecily.

However Hill House eventually proved too strong and forced some fumbled fielding and scored the rounders.
