Anthony Gell 0
S.Anselm's 6 (Jordan W 3, Tom B 2, James C 1)
It was business as usual. Three goals from Jordan W, the target I set him before the game, to reach 40 in his career, set S.Anselm's on their way to a comfortable win against modest opposition. His first goal was a clinical finish after five minutes and not long after Tom B struck a powerful short corner into the far corner of the goal - he had little other choice with other players not assuming their customary positions of penalty spot, far post and the square option: we were a little rusty as the only practice some have had in the last seven months came in 20 minutes before the match begun.

James C played a rising ball down at his feet and into the goal for number three. Anthony Gell had their moments, but rarely got beyond the defensive pairing of Charlie T and Jake P. Both covered each other well when the other was commited further forward. Jake P was his usual strong self in tackling and distributing the ball, whilst Charlie T combined well with James C. Movement off the ball was good and decoy running from Tom B at '16's allowed the defence to find ways through to our midfield and forward.

John B was back to his old tricks on the left wing and cut in very well rather than staying out wide to take the right back out of the game. George M had one save to make of note. Overall, a constructive and purposeful first match for our 7-a-side team. Unlike in the U11's, however, most U13 matches are 11-a-side. We look forward to them with optimism and enthusiasm over the coming months.
