U13A v Denstone College won 2-1

This was a fine team performance considering the team had not played together since before half term , were playing on astroturf and against a talented Denstone side who had been playing together for 7 weeks. S.Anselms should have taken the lead within the first minute with Tom B and Jordan W combining well but the final shot just went wide. Denstone then exerted great pressure on the S.Anselm's defence forcing 3 fine saves from George M, a total of 8 penalty corners from Denstone were defended. S.Anselm's made a quick break and Jordan W was at the top of the D and scored with a fine shot after 8 minutes. There was then some end to end hockey and both sides had opportunities to score, George M continued his fine form with 2 further excellent saves. Charlie T and Jake P were beginning to communicate well in defence , Tom B, James C and William S gained confidence as the match went on exerting pressure on the Denstone midfield. The score at half time remained at 1-0 to S.Anselm's.

Denstone once again exerted great pressure on the S.Anselm's defence and something had to give with Denstone eventually equalising after 7 minutes of the second half. S.Anselm's responded well creating some chances with James C, Tom B, Jordan W and Will S all going close. S.Anselm's constructed another fine attack after 19 minutes of the second half with Jordan W again finding space in the D and finishing off clinically to score the decisive goal. There was still time for  some scares, with Denstone hitting the post and George M making 2 more excellent saves in the final 6 minutes. A fine victory with much good team play and plenty of endeavour which bodes well for the rest of the season.
