S.Anselm's U13A V Foremarke Hall U13A
S.Anselm's WON 20 - 13
POM's Hannah S and Charlotte P
After a strong set of training sessions since the tournament last week, The U13A team were ready for a tough match. In the first quarter, The centre court certainly worked the ball hard into Hannah Staniforth. Emily D most certainly sent some excellent and accurate passes into the shooting circle and backed up with post position. Cecily had a solid first quarter but her passing was a little weak this was an area that Cecily was aiming to improve on later on in the match. Whilst Lucy and Issy both defended hard, there were still gaps in the S.Anselm's defence, which allowed Foremarke Hall's strongest player (G.A.) to put pressure on and score goals. At the end of the first quarter the scoreline was 5 -3 to S.Anselm's. The main focus for the S. Anselm's defence was to man to man and block the opposition. The aim for the centre court was to drive hard and pass into the space. Georgia R-S most certainly took this on board. She worked very well with Charlotte P, Immy W and Emily D. Hannah S continued to position herself well in the shooting circle to allow the easy high ball in. At the other end of the pitch, Lucy and Issy most certainly stepped up their game, Lucy, Issy and Charlotte made good clear interceptions and translated possession into goals - Great! The half time score was 11 - 6.
S.Anselm's were growing in confidence all the time! They were looking super! The match continued to be close and at times it was end to end ball. However, as the weather got cooler, the game and performances certainly warmed up. Overall the second half was very exciting. Georgia and Cecily were unstoppable - they're timing of the ball was impressive, all of which are key elements for the Wing attack position. Immy W and Charlotte P worked 100% for the whole match and linked the ball from defence into attack beautifully. Lucy and Issy once again were a strong back bone to the team. They marked tightly and listened to key areas to continually improve their own performances. An area which Emily experienced for the first time was how to keep her opposition out of the game. She did this with finesse and this is an area that she can certainly work on in the future as a Goal attack. She coped very well with the very advanced skill and tactic - Well done.
Overall it was a pleasure to see the girls play well - under pressure. You do have so much potential girls - remember that!
