Goal scorers: Millie C 1 goal and Emily G-P 3 goals.

It was great for the U13 A team to be playing at home with the full support from parents. The pitch was slow and it took S. Anselm’s a little while to get used to playing on grass again. However after 10 minutes of play, there were super breaks in attack and goals were starting to be scored. In the first half, Freya H, Emily G- P and Millie C attacked the D brilliantly with support from key midfield players Lily S, Georgia R-S and Georgina H. Millie C was very determined to score and eventually this determination paid off. Defensively we were slow off the mark but once the defence stopped committing to tackle early and learnt to pressurise effectively we started to see results. Overall there was some excellent attacking play, particularly in the second half but we still have lots of work to do defensively as a team. We are edging forward to the Regional IAPS Championships and the U13 team players are looking more like astro players as each session progresses.
Many congratulations on a successful match, it was a pleasure seeing Emily G-P playing left forward and being so versatile in her attacking play – Well done Emily. To have a team with so much versatility ensures that whatever combination we put on is a strong one!
I would like to make a special mention to Sarah Singlehurst ( Head of Girls’ Games at Uppingham School). Many thanks for coming to umpire the game and also for your excellent coaching points of which we will most certainly be taking on board. It was lovely to see you! We are all looking forward to seeing the Seniors in the highly competitive house matches on Saturday – good luck to all teams! MPN
