Player of the Match: Poppy M
The rain stayed away to allow us to play!
We opted to field first and were doing well, managing to keep Hill House to 3 half rounders with some good catches but a mad moment and some inaccurate fielding allowed them to score a full rounder. We communicated to each other to right this and played well as a team for the remainder of the innings (27 balls).
Our batting innings was not awe-inspiring but we did manage to clock up 8 half rounders and 2 full rounders scored by Alli H and Georgia R-S, Jemima W batted well too.
Hill House scored 3 rounders in their second innings, giving them a total of 5½. This meant we had won, so as a sporting gesture, reduced our number of balls to 18 from 27. The girls realised they could risk things on their second bat and managed to score 6½ half rounders. Alli H and Poppy M scored 2 full rounders, giving us 5½ rounders for the second innings, a total of 11½.
Overall, not a great match. Once we had won, I felt some members of our team did not remain focused and became complacent. This is not good enough, ensure you remain conscientious and put 100% effort into every match.
