U13B v Ranby House Won 5-2

A mixed age group team, in this our last match of the season. Ranby arrived early for us to start on time, so we agreed to play the usual 20 minutes each way. They won the toss and elected for first push back. We got off to a good start, dominating play and Amelia H, playing her very last game for S. Anselm's, scored after only 6 minutes. Not long after, we caught the Ranby defence off guard and Nancy S managed to push the ball into the goal, for our second. Ranby then made a few breaks but were soon stopped by our impressive midfielders, Eleanor T, Gabby T and Jemima W. We were awarded a short corner in the last 5 minutes of first half and Ella N, making her debut for the U13's, did well to convert the rebound from Gabby T's shot on goal. Amazingly, Ella then scored another goal for us, 2 minutes later - very well done! Ranby managed to get on the scoreboard in the last minute, with a difficult goal for Emma S to save. 4-1 at half time.
We made a couple of substitutions, bringing on Hattie R and Hannah S in the second half and the game was much more evenly matched, with only one goal each, both scored in the first 5 minutes. Nancy S had a fabulous strike at goal, saved off the line by the 'keepers glove, which Nancy then converted into our 5th and final goal. Two minutes later, Ranby scored their last goal. From then on, it was end to end play. Our defence, Ellie W, Fran F and Olivia C played very consistently, preventing Ranby from getting close to score. Emma H worked well on the right to get the ball into the "D" but Ranby's defence, particularly their 'keeper, prevented us from scoring anymore goals and the score remained 5-2.
Well played everyone, this really was a great team effort, but a particular mention goes to Jemima W - Player of the Match for her consistent play and also extremely efficient captaincy.
