After a good win on Wednesday , hopes were high for a repeat performance on Saturday. It was clear from the start of the game that S.Anselm's had a very hard game on their hands against a very good Ranby House side. The match was played at a high tempo with both sides displaying some excellent inter passing and tackling skills. Neither team could break through excellent defences with Harvey W and Ludo L putting in some crunching tackles to thwart Ranby attacks. Eventually something had to give and Harvey W made a strong run and managed to break through the Ranby defence and open the scoring , this was to be the only score of a compelling first half and S.Anselm's led 5-0 at half time. Ranby came out on the offensive immediately after half time and their physically bigger players started to play influential roles in the match , S.Anselm's defended bravely but Ranby scored two quick tries to take a 10-5 lead , much as S.Anselm's tried to get an equalising try Ranby's defence held firm and the final score was 10-5 to Ranby. An excellent hard fought Under 9 match which could have gone either way.
