U9 v Smallwood Manor lost 5-20

UNDER 9's LOSE NARROWLY TO SMALLWOOD MANOR

S.Anselm's Under 9's travelled to Smallwood Manor for their last fixture of the season yesterday. All of the boys put in 100% effort and took a deserved lead midway through the first half when Harvey W scored a good individual try, S.Anselm's defended well tackling their hearts out and also putting together some good handling moves. A moment of individual flair by the Smallwood scrum half levelled the scores and right on the half time whistle a handling error on our own line was pounced upon by Smallwood so we went into half time losing 10-5. After the break S.Anselm's came out all guns blazing and were unlucky not to get a try to level the scores. Another moment of individual brilliance by the Smallwood scrum half resulted in another try, followed by a further error on our own line made the final score line a 20-5 loss. A match which showed the marked improvements of all the players Harvey W (capt), Bertie S, Lewis S, Tom D, George T, George G, Luke S, Dominic H and Monty H from the beginning of the season, they all deserve mentioning for their wholehearted efforts and perhaps on another day we might have won.
