U9 v Terra Nova Won 11-2

U9 v Terra Nova Won 11-2

Players of the Match  Holly D & Amber H

Our last match of the season took place at Terra Nova, Cheshire. As we have come to expect, it was very cold. For this game the frost had not melted from the pitches all day!

However, the harsh weather did not stop the enthusiasm of our team and the girls went out hard, and won convincingly 4-0 after the first quarter, 7-1 after half time, 10-2 after the third and a final score of 11-2.

As the score was so one sided the refereeing was stepped up on our girls, with footwork ignored for the Terra Nova girls but strictly enforced for ours. This improved the standard of the play of our Under 9s and gave Terra Nova more of a fighting chance.

All the girls played well.

Laura M, Constance W, Miriam A (1 goal scored) and Tara O (6 goals and several dives!) played at the front. Holly D (scored 3 goals) and Amber H (scored 1 goal) played as halves and did exceptionally well.  Tilly S and Natalie G had much more play in defence and were able to cut down a lot of Terra Nova’s advances.

This was a great game to finish our season with and we have been unbeaten. We have won against Wellow House, Ranby, Foremarke, Grace Dieu and Terra Nova and had a draw against The Elms.

It has been a pleasure to coach the girls and thank you to all the parents. It has been really good to have so many keen supporters and it has really has lifted team spirits throughout the season.
