YESSSS! Another game which hasn’t been cancelled! The girls have been practicing their fielding skills and were keen to put what they had learnt into action. We got off to a good start, winning the toss and assembling into our fielding positions. After the first few balls we realised Terra Nova had some excellent batters on their team and the girls were working hard to keep the score down. Brilliant team work from Holly and Amber meant that hardly any half rounders was scored. Tara and Miriam were working hard to stop the ball sending it back to bowler. Natalie was doing a brilliant job guarding her post waiting to stump out any batters! It had been a good start to the game and the team were working together successfully to stop those rounders.
Holly was the first batter to step up to the square and gave the ball a good whack and setting the standard for our batters. The girls managed to collect lots of half rounders, all totting up our score, along with Katie Mitchell’s daring run were she scored a full rounder and boosting the confidence of the team! We also had some brilliant batting from Grace. T and Amber.H who helped our team take the lead after the first innings.
Second Innings.
Terra Nova realised they had to make up for the last innings and began to take a lot more risks. This put pressure on our girls and like to the last match, their performance deteriorated slighted as they panicked and sometimes fumbling with the ball. However when we were thinking before we sent the ball we played well. Laura was provided solid support for second base and Holly had a superb catch that I think even surprised her. Tilly was consistently thinking throughout the game and using her initiative to back up Natalie on fourth. After an excited start it was soon our turn to bat again.
The girls finished off the game well, coming through with the goods when needed and scoring just enough rounders to take us into the lead. We still need to work on remaining calm under pressure and using tactical thinking but apart from that they are developing into a strong team. Well done girls on your win and supporting each other!
A big thank you to all the parents for supporting the girls and cheering them to victory!
