The S. Anselm’s boys had been raring to go all day and were truly excited when it came to kick off. There were some superb passages of play from both sides with a number of shots on goal. Both goalkeepers had stunning matches, in particular Toby d’B who saved a powerful strike from the Wellow forward which was destined for the top corner but for a solid palm deflecting the ball away from goal for a corner. Max H and Shea J both had some good long range efforts but they didn’t trouble the talented Wellow keeper. Honours even in the opening U9A match, a real nail-biter. Passing and moving was highlighted as one aspect of the game to work on in the coming matches. 0-0 final score.

U9 v Wellow U9B
S. Anselm’s dominated the possession from kick off. The match was made slightly more challenging with all 9 players on the field from Wellow but this meant the boys were going to have to maximise the space out wide and take their chances. This they duly did and at half time S. Anselm’s were 4-0 up with a few wonderful strikes from Shea J, Arthur L and Max H. Josh G and George L also deserve a mention after finishing the day having conceded 0 goals proving that they are certainly a force to be reckoned with at the back. After the half time team talk the boys went out there looking to make the ball do the work, pass and move into space. As this started to come together, Arthur L completed his hat-trick with two second half goals and Max H slotted the ball home after a lovely through ball from Matthew W. All together a very impressive performance, well done!
