U9/8 Football v Wellow

As debut matches these were an awesome spectacle, with some truly terrific football. Wellow were able to produce 2 only sides so it was kind of them to allow us to triangulate and entertain our 3 squads. This allowed us to play a total of 6 games, with each of our sides facing to different levels of opposition.

U8/9 v Wellow U9B
This was a great match and the opening game for the U8/9 fusion side. With both teams able to put out 9 players it was decided to allow them all to compete at once. There were some really promising moments with some good dribbling work from Adam S and rugged challenges from Russell F. Tom H was very light on his feet and displayed some excellent energy, especially in the first half. Jed P was excellent and kept his goal well, but was overcome by a single tasty opposition effort. A retaliatory goal was excellently set up by Tom H’s throw that was cleanly hoofed by Russell F. Great work Fellas!

U8/9 v Wellow U9A
This was a really tough challenge with the best Wellow had to offer in this team. The opposition clearly showed their class from the off, putting together a series of great passes that led them to the goal mouth. Jed P was superb in his keeping and plucked the ball to safety on a huge number of occasions. Sadly the goalkeeper was left far too exposed, frequently throughout the game and inevitably goals were conceded.
