U9A v Grace Dieu A, Won 2 – 0, Player of the Match - Holly D

It was a bright sunny morning and proved to be an excellent opportunity for our younger girls to not only represent their school in a triangular fixture, but also sample playing on astro-turf, a quite different surface to grass. Foremarke hosted us very well, with the matches being fun and learning experience considerable. It was excellent to see so many parents enjoying the matches and supporting our girls. Thanks also to Clare for assisting with the umpiring. A great morning, well played all!

U9A Matches:

In our first game against Foremarke our forwards were feisty, determined to breakthrough the Foremarke defence, with Amber, Tara and Constance taking scoring opportunities and attacking well. Amber scored both of our goals in the first half, sending her shots to the far corners of the goal. Holly D did a super job of collecting the ball and sending it forwards, whilst backs Miriam, Tilly and Natalie all worked hard to win the ball and distribute it to the wings. In the second half Foremarke scored a goal and despite spending much of the half attacking we were unable to provide the final finish and score a 3^rd.

In our second game against Grace Dieu we again attacked well, with Laura M pushing the ball forwards impressively. We went wide a couple of times, but halfway through this half Amber scored our first goal of this game, (her third of the day to make a hat trick). In the second half Grace Dieu were more organized with their forwards breaking through to our defending D at times, but the backs kept their heads and Holly D timed her tackles impressively in order to win the ball. Our second goal came from a strong hit out by Natalie G to Holly D, who collected the ball and dribbled with it for three quarters of the pitch length, and upon entering the D pushed it firmly into the goal, excellent play!

Well played everybody, a fine team performance and an enjoyable morning of hockey. Thanks to all of our supporters, it was great to see so many of you cheering on the under 9 girls.
