Foremarke were the hosts once again for our under 9A & B matches, a morning of sport that involved all of our junior girls from years 3 and 4. This time we played netball and the damp conditions meant we had to play indoors, back to back. It was super to see all of our younger girls in action and they all put on a super performance. Both games were enjoyed by a large number of trusty S.A. supporters, thank you for your positive encouragement and excellent support.

U9A Report:

This was very much a game of two halves, with our girls being a little slow to start. Although we were 3 – 2 up at half time, we were not playing our best netball. We did not always move for the ball, hiding behind our opponents; and we tried to force some of the passes, which resulted in the ball being intercepted. In the second half shooters Tara and Amber worked extremely well together; whilst in defence Holly and Laura became better at timing their interceptions. Our passing into the D was good and our shooting accuracy improved. The pace of the game picked up and we really took control of the 3rd and 4th quarters, adding five further goals to our total. We now need to work on being faster to switch from defence to attack mode and vice versa; and also need to become faster at snatching any lose balls. By the last quarter we were firing on all cylinders and dominated play on the court, well done everyone!

U9B Report:

For the majority of the team, this was their first ever match, with most of them being in year 3, so a year young compared to the Foremarke girls. The girls began with enthusiasm and it was pleasing to see their passing becoming stronger as the game progressed. They also became better at marking their opponents. Charlotte timed her interceptions superbly, and was a safe dependable player in defence. Francecsa N coped very well with the change to centre and proved to be very reliable when bringing the ball out of defence and up the court. All three shooters played well, with Lily and Grace scoring one goal each; but Annie was on superb form, shooting four brilliant goals. All held their space well in the D, in order to shoot from close to the post. A great result girls and really exciting game to watch, well played everybody!

Thanks to Miss Skipp for her support and assistance with these fixtures too.
