U9A v Smallwood Manor Won 1-0

The U-9s showed good spirit in a determined display. However, playing on a small cramped pitch, the match was never going to be an advert for good football.
On an individual basis, Henry deserves credit for his performance in goal where he reluctantly played because of an absence. In defence, Angus was our “man-of-the-match” with a solidly reliable display; Alex showed he will be a real footballer in time with some neat touches. In midfield, Hamish has real talent but mustn’t try to do too much; Ludo will need to work harder for the team and Max must develop his concentration. Up front, Marcus showed a willingness to shoot and scored our goal.
Overall, despite the conditions and a lack of practice thanks to the foul weather, the boys showed some promise and potential for the future.
