U9A v Smallwood Manor Lost 35-5

 This match was many of the boys’ first experience of a competitive game of contact rugby. The boys faced a bigger more experienced Smallwood Manor team and it was evident from the first few minutes of the match that the S.Anselm’s would be up against it. Smallwood possessed some very swift direct runners and scored three very quick tries. The S.Anselm’s boys responded well and were starting to get into the match with Sam W, Marcus K, Toby De La B, George L and Arthur L making some good runs. Alexander S, Max H and Shea J also started to get into the game and made some good tackles. The team were rewarded for their endeavours when Sam W scored a fine try. Much as they battled the boys couldn’t stop Smallwood scoring four further tries.

This was an encouraging start from a very young group who showed plenty of fight and determination.
