U9A v The Elms

U9A v The Elms

This was a rather one sided fray, with The Elms establishing an early lead. The play was dominated by forward style drives and breaks. Sadly the Anselm’s tackling was lack-lustre and too many Elms players slipped through. Russell F was on good form and used his strength to power through at breakdowns although the Anselm’s team were inclined to over commit.

The second half of the match was change of pace for the S. Anselm’s side. The players were more engaged around the field and some superb tackling was exhibited from Shea J and Toby dB. Rucking was less dithery and we recycled the ball far more effectively. Toby managed to squeeze through very early in the half with our first try. Ignited by gaining some points the pressure was increased by Anselm’s. Sadly a subsequent try by Toby was denied from an unfortunate knock on in the try area. In the closing minutes Anselm’s had managed to practically rout the opposition, but were denied the time to improve on their single score.

Result: Lost 25 – 5

Man of the match: Shea J
