U9B v Grace Dieu

Once again we welcomed another school with a great reputation for sporting excellence, having only lost one U9 rugby match in the last 2 years. However this did note daunt the S. Anselm’s boys and for the first 5 minutes S. Anselm’s looked the far better team with excellent running from Max H and Adam S, as well as superb rucking from James B and Jack B. Unfortunately the oppositions Tackling was excellent and managed to turn the tide. Although the S. Anselm’s boys put in an excellent effort it wasn’t enough to stop the Grace Dieu boys scoring 4 tries before half time.

After a good team talk the S. Anselm’s side came out fighting and really showed the opposition what they were made of. The tackles put in by the whole team pushed the Grace boys back consistently and with great cover tackling from Wilson W and Henry W they saved a couple of tries. Harry T put in a solid performance for his debut as fly half and some good running from Max H followed by excellent support from Adam S lead to S. Anselm’s only try. An excellent effort from all the boys today and although the score line is doesn’t reflect the contest we saw on the pitch, there are many positives to be taken away from today.

A big thanks to the Grace Dieu team and staff who were well mannered and played a great match and once again to the parents who came to support.
