S. Anselm’s 55-0 ( 13 overs) drew with Westbourne 122-9 dec (41 overs)
Between the showers, the U11A cricket team managed to fit in their match against Westbourne.
S. Anselm’s found it hard to adjust to playing on the U11B pitch and, despite a few early wickets, Westbourne were off to a decent start. It wasn't until the second spells of Freddie H and William W, along with Ollie R that S.Anselm's really took control of the match. Nevertheless, Westbourne batted on, finally declaring on 122-9 after 41 overs.
S. Anselm’s had just 45 minutes to bat, all four of our batsmen (two were retired) batted with impressive technique and talent as we closed on 55-0, John W playing the shot of the match with a superb cover drive.
The coach is a firm believer in timed cricket, S. Anselm’s ought to have dismissed Westbourne for a lower score, but with Westbourne batting for a lengthy part of the match, a positive result was always going to be difficult to find.
