U11B v Hill House Won 11 - 7.5

Wednesday 20th May 2009

S. Anselm's 11 Hill House 7.5
Player of the Match: Lucy R

Well done to everyone involved on a very wet and blustery day. After a slow start where each score seemed hard to come by and the nerves were evident the girls soon gathered themselves and after a great half time talk to reinforce tactics - to which everyone contributed their ideas - the score line took off and the fielding tightened up. The girls displayed some sensible decision making and some super support and encouragement to each other.

Particular mention should go to Emma S who "fell on her sword" at third post, to enable a half rounder to be scored at second - this was a tactic we all discussed and agreed upon at half time as we could see it to be one of our best options for nudging up the score - well done for listening! Olivia C, Emma H and Chloe R-S had the best of the batting on the day, each adding whole rounders to the score.

Player of the Match was a tricky decision but went to Lucy R for her epitomising the Mark Twain philosophy of "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the mastery of it" - she made a nervous start to her bowling but dug deep and turned out some fine bowling spells.

Congratulations to one and all.
