U13 Rounders v 2008 Leavers

Saturday 30th May 2009

With tension mounting the 5th year girls were eagerly awaiting the arrival of last year’s leavers. They were working to Cavell-Taylor time so we claimed 10 rounders as they were so late. Due to the great support for this event 3 innings were to be played to enable everyone to have a game. We batted first but had obviously peaked in the warm up as we struggled to send the ball any distance or even make contact with it!

The old girls went into bat determined to show they hadn’t lost their touch or turn of speed and began to notch the rounders up at a frightening rate. The current 5th years dropped catches and misfielded but that can be put down to over exposure to the sun while waiting for the old girls to turn up!

Despite awarding extra rounders to the 5th years just for looking good and having matching bats and sun glasses the old girls continued to hold the upper hand in each of the innings and showed what a bit of maturity and desire to win can do!

The final result with lots of `cheating` was 27 – 27.5 with victory to the leavers!
