Full time score: S. Anselm’s 24 ½ beat Denstone College 10 ½
Player of the match : Sarah W
Congratulations to all the girls involved in this game – it really was a team effort with everyone displaying some good skills and wonderful enthusiasm. We played the first innings of 36 good balls and the second innings of 27. As the scores show S.Anselm’s had in fact won before they played their second innings, as Denstone College batted first – but we played on and kept warm in the biting cross pitch winds.
Player of the Match went to Sarah W for some truly excellent fielding and catching at second post, and for her three whole rounders scored. Lydia F took the catch of the game at third post – thanks must go to Mum too for the loan of her glasses! Emma K kept the score up with some whole rounders and many half rounders scored. Jemima W worked tirelessly as back stop often having to retrieve the ball from down a grassy slope and into a nettle bed.
The only real comment to make was for the girls to display a greater sense of urgency, there could have been an even greater score differential - at times we were a little too cavalier and laid back; but to be fair it wasn’t one of their tougher matches; just a note going forward. Well done to everyone involved.
